BAGUIO CITY, June 10 (PIA) - - The City Government of Baguio is all set for the celebration of the 121st anniversary of Philippine Independence which for this year adopts the theme, "Tapang ng Bayan, Malasakit sa Mamamayan."
The Independence Day activities start with a program at 8:00 am on Wednesday (June 12) at the PFVR Gym here. Baguio World War II veterans will lead city officials, guests and the public for the oath of loyalty to the Philippine Flag (Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas).
Invited keynote speaker is Police Regional Office - Cordillera Regional Director Police Brigadier General Israel Ephraim Dickson .
Congressman Marquez Go and Mayor Mauricio Domogan will also give their Independence Day messages.
Right after the program will be the Independence Day Parade that will pass through the city's main thoroughfare. Expected participants for the parade are city government officials and personnel, regional line agency heads and personnel, representatives from law enforcement agencies, war veterans, government retirees and senior citizens group, religious organizations and the Association of Barangay Councils.
The parade will have the Philippine Military Academy, PRO - Cor and Baguio City National High School marching bands and the Mabini Elementary High School Drum and Lyre, for accompaniment.
Also on June 12, the Kalayaan Job and Business Fairs dubbed as "Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan" wil be conducted at the Porta Vaga Mall's Sky Dome. A project of the Department of Labor and Employment in partnership with the City Government and other regional line agencies , more than 3,000 jobs for local and overseas employment are up for grabs.
