BEIRUT -- Two batches of vaccines developed by Chinese pharmaceutical firm Sinopharm arrived here on Tuesday to support the country's fight against COVID-19.

Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Wang Kejian said that China offered the two batches of vaccines for the Lebanese government and army, which shows the deep friendship between the Chinese and Lebanese governments, armies, and peoples. (Lebanon-China-Vaccines)

TUNIS -- Tunisian Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi on Tuesday excluded the possibility of imposing a nationwide lockdown despite the spike in COVID-19 cases, reported the Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP).

"It is not possible to impose a general lockdown in Tunisia because of the socio-economic difficulties," Mechichi was quoted by the TAP as saying. (Tunisia-COVID19)

TEHRAN -- The United States must remove all its sanctions against Iran in one step if it seeks to rejoin the Iran nuclear deal, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Tuesday.

The Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), known as the Iran nuclear deal, resumed talks in Vienna on Tuesday, with lifting sanctions on Iran and nuclear implementation measures at the top of the agenda. (Iran-Nuke Deal-US Sanction)

CAIRO -- The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that the latest negotiations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo) over the disputed Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) made "no progress and failed to reach an agreement."

"The latest African Union (AU)-sponsored talks that sought to re-launch the deadlocked negotiations for reaching a deal over the filling and operation of the dam came with no progress due to persisting differences," Ahmed Hafez, spokesperson of the foreign ministry, said in a statement.
