TRIPOLI -- Libya's High National Elections Commission (HNEC) on Sunday announced a plan for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.

According to the plan, the polling day for the first round of the presidential elections is determined in the Commissioner's proposal that is approved by the House of Representatives (parliament), Imad Al-Sayah, the head of HNEC, told a press conference in the capital Tripoli. ANKARA -- Turkey on Sunday confirmed 24,792 new COVID-19 cases, raising its total tally of infections to 7,851,805, according to its health ministry.

The death toll from the virus in Turkey rose by 195 to 69,112, while 24,403 more people recovered in the last 24 hours, said the ministry. (Turkey-COVID19-Cases)


JERUSALEM -- Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said Sunday that the five-hour meeting with Russia's President Vladimir Putin in Sochi was "very good and in-depth."

Speaking at his weekly cabinet meeting, Bennett said "the relations between Israel and Russia are very good, but it can be better. The potential for economic, scientific, cultural and technological cooperation is endless given the fact that there are approximately one million Russian-speakers in Israel." (Israel-Russia)


AMMAN -- Jordan on Sunday warned Israel against building new settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Haitham Abu Al-Foul said in a statement that the approval of the plan to build 3,000 new settlement units is a rejected and condemned move, which represents a violation of international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
