WASHINGTON -- A federal agency announced on Monday evening the launch of a team to investigate the deadly Amtrak derailment in the U.S. state of Missouri.

AMMAN -- Twelve people were killed and 251 others injured on Monday in a chemical gas leak from a container at Jordan's Aqaba port, Jordan state TV reported.

Jordan opened a large field hospital in Aqaba to treat those injured in the toxic gas leakage as the Red Sea port city's hospitals have reached full capacity, according to the state-run Al Mamlaka TV. (Jordan-Gas Leak-Casualty)

JERUSALEM -- The Israeli Ministry of Health on Monday reported 20 new cases of monkeypox, bringing the total to 29 cases detected in the country so far.

The ministry's acting Spokeswoman Shira Solomon told Xinhua that one of the new infections is domestic, joining one previous infection that occurred within Israel, while the other 27 cases were infected abroad. (Israel-Monkeypox)

BRUSSELS -- The Council of the European Union (EU) on Monday adopted a regulation aiming to ensure that gas storage capacities in the EU are filled before the winter season and can be shared between member states.

The regulation provided that underground gas storage on member states' territory must be filled to at least 80 percent of their capacity before the winter of 2022/2023 and to 90 percent before the following winter. Overall, the EU will attempt collectively to fill 85 percent of the total underground gas storage capacity in the bloc in 2022. (EU-Gas-Storage)
