JERUSALEM, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Euroleague basketball club Maccabi Tel Aviv continued its massive signing campaign and on Wednesday announced the addition of former NBA and CBA player Lorenzo Brown.

The 31-year-old U.S. point guard, who signed a two-year contract with Maccabi, said he is "excited and looking forward to being a part of the legacy that's been created and also playing in front of a wonderful fan base."

In 2013, Brown was selected on the 52nd overall pick in the NBA draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

His NBA career included a total of 103 games for the Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota, Phoenix Suns and Toronto Raptors, in which he averaged 2.8 points and 1.8 assists in 11.5 minutes per game.

In between, Brown played in the 2016-2017 season for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls of the Chinese Basketball Association league, where he averaged 24 points in 20 games.

As his NBA career ended in 2019 he returned to China, where he played for the Guangzhou Long Lions, averaging 25.3 points in eight games.

Later that year he began his European career, which included the Euroleague sides Red Star Belgrade, Fenerbahce and Unics Kazan.

"Lorenzo is a tough player, a leader and he has an excellent passing ability," said Maccabi's head coach Oded Kattash. "He has very good decision making and will feel comfortable with our method of play."

Besides Brown, Maccabi has so far signed the U.S. players Austin Hollins, Alex Poythress, Darrun Hilliard and Bonzie Colson, and Israelis Guy Pnini and Rafi Menco, who recently led Hapoel Holon to win the Israeli league championship.
