GAZA, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- A small factory in southern Gaza is adding a second life to expired textbooks and used schoolwork papers, by making them into egg cartons.

Akram Amour, an operator of the factory in the southern Gazan city of Khan Younis, said the paper waste is provided by the Ministry of Education.

The densely populated Gaza Strip generates about 1,800 tons of solid waste every day, about 14 percent of which are paper and cardboard, according to local media reports in June.
